My Journey of Healing Through Rhythm
Why "Outlaw Drummers"?
People often ask where the name came from.
It wasn't chosen because we wanted to be rebellious.
It came from a lifetime of asking one simple question:
"What if there's another way?"
I first studied traditional West African drumming, honoring its rich history and traditions. As my musical journey grew, I began exploring rock, contemporary music, and other styles. Some people told me, "That's not how you're supposed to play."
Later, as I studied the relationship between rhythm, stress, and health, I encountered another version of the same response.
"That's not how you're supposed to heal people."
Those experiences taught me something important.
Innovation often begins by questioning assumptions.
Outlaw Drummers was never about rejecting tradition.
It was about respecting tradition while remaining open to new possibilities.
We believe creativity thrives when curiosity is encouraged, not discouraged.
That's the spirit behind our name.
Our Story
Outlaw Drummers grew from founder Bill Moore's personal journey.
After serving during Desert Storm, Bill spent years building a successful career in the skilled trades and business. Yet it was through rhythm, art, and community that he found a path toward rebuilding his own life.
That journey led him to earn a bachelor's degree in Mind-Body Medicine and Psychology, complete his research thesis Rhythm Healing, and spend decades teaching drum circles, creative arts, and community programs throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Today, Bill continues to teach regular community classes, sharing the same practices that transformed his own life while helping others discover the power of creativity, connection, and lifelong learning.

Our Philosophy
We believe creativity isn't reserved for artists.
It is part of being human.
Every beat played together...
Every painting created...
Every dance shared...
Every story told...
Strengthens something much larger than ourselves.
It strengthens community.
That belief guides everything we do.
Looking Ahead
Outlaw Drummers is the foundation for a much larger vision.
Our long-term goal is to establish The Rhythm Arts Center—a place where music, visual art, dance, movement, education, nature, and community come together under one roof.
A place where children, families, veterans, seniors, artists, and lifelong learners can create, teach, mentor, and grow together.
Every class we teach today is one step toward that future.
The Next Step Is Yours
Whether you're five years old or ninety-five...
Whether you're an experienced musician or have never held a drum...
Whether you're looking to learn, teach, volunteer, or simply reconnect with your creative side...
There is a place for you here.
At Outlaw Drummers, we believe that every class, every conversation, every rhythm, and every work of art is another step toward building a stronger community.
We invite you to take that next step with us.
Let's create something that matters.
Rhythm: A Healing Modality?
Rhythm Therapy works towards a fourfold Outcome.
- It calms and allows for the recovery of the Parasympathetic System, which is the body’s own natural recovery system for stress damage.
- Rhythm Therapy promotes Neurogenesis, the growth of new neurons in the brain.
- It allows for the release of pent-up frustrations and angers, in a creative and non-destructive way.
- And Rhythm Therapy brings people together in a safe social environment
Bill has spent years studying the science of how Rhythm affects the mind and body to promote his own healing.
